Prepare the boys, Evil-Lyn

I made Skeletor's throne room using an old box, covered it with dailies before painting with acrylic. The throne is made of styro then added some skulls from a bracelet I found at home. :)

Mattel did a fantastic job bringing back these MOTU action figures!

Lara Croft

Tom Raider is one of my favorite games. Nice graphics, great controls and decent puzzles. I made this shot using a NECA Lara Croft figure. Used LCD screen as background then deleted the stand and added the muzzle using Photoshop. :)

Jabba's Throne Part II

Jabba's throne room continuation...

Princess Leia's plan was foiled and Jabba caught her while freeing Han Solo from the carbonite box. Han Solo was thrown into the dungeon with Chewbacca awaiting judgement while the princess became a slave for Jabba's entertainment.

When hope seems lost, Luke Skywalker made his way into Jabba's palace with a plan....

Free my friends, mighty Jabba...

An unexpected encounter

3 reasons why I'm looking forward to the year 2015: (1) Justice League ze movie (2) Avengers 2 and (3) Star Wars VII. Now that J.J. Abrams is officially directing the film, I can sleep peacefully knowing that the next installment will be a blast. :)

For this shot, I made the base using styro and sand. I used Kenner and Hasbro figures.

An unexpected encounter.

With the help of the two Jedi Knights, Queen Amidala escaped the grasp of the Trade Federation. En route to the Senate, the team had to stop to Tattoine to have the ship fixed in order for them to continue with their journey. Qui-Gon, together with R2D2, Jar Jar Binks and Padme embarked on a quest...

"No more orders from her majesty today..."

"This sun is doen murder to mesa skin"

To be continued... :)

The Fury of Battosai.

What to do on a very lazy Sunday? Watch! I will be watching Rorouni Kenshin later. I remember watching the anime with my sister and until now she still has a copy and watch it from time to time. She's 34 and has a kid. Ha! We will always be a kid at heart. :)

Run, Indy, run!

Everybody loves Indy.

Made the diorama using Hasbro's Indiana Jones action figure. :)

Diorama is made of dailies painted with acrylic before covering with moss. :)

Resident Evil. Chris Redfileld Action Figure

I overcame my addiction to console / PC games 5 years ago. I have spent sleepless nights driving around San Andreas, in finding and accumulating blood orbs, dodging spears and expanding my territory. But, one thing I have yet to overcome is my addiction in collecting action figures from games. :)

Resident Evil is one of the most celebrated games ever. It features engaging game play and top-notched graphics. Chris Redfield is definitely my favorite character followed by Leon Kennedy and Ada Wong. NECA did a fantastic job with the figure. Decent articulation and the details are spot on.

"There Will Be Blood..."

More action figures based on games soon. :)

Dream Away...

Ending the day with another Mcdonad's Happy Meal toy.

Heard some really bad news from the office today. Another journey has began for some. A chance for them to chase their dreams. Another shot at life. As for me, I will dream tonight of one day I'll have that chance. :)

Night-night, everyone!

Bat Family In Action. Batman, Nightwing and Batgirl.

Here's another set of action scenes featuring DC Universe Classic's Batman, Nightwing and Batgirl. I used the same technique shown earlier in my Canary and Arrow in action shots. :)

 "You fly, I'll slide"

Shot taken from another perspective.

"Two for two..."

 More action shots soon. :)

Canary and Arrow in Action

Shooting an action scene is a challenging task to any toy photographer. I consider the pose, perspective and of course lighting when doing an action scene. The camera needs to be where the action is, so they say. I always enjoy doing these scenes but, this is way too much time consuming from the set-up to post editing. But, it's always a blast to see your action figures in action. :)

Green Arrow and Black Canary in action :)

How do I do these scenes? I tie a string to the figure then delete it in Photoshop. There are so many ways to do this but, I have grown accustomed to the CLONE tool. Lower the opacity (approx 20-30% tops) when near the face/body of the figure. For the rest, you can increase it since it will be totally unnoticeable. Here's a sample below:

Your madness ends today, Skeletor!

I remember watching the series way way back. Had the original toy line, but over the years, after moving from one house to another, we lost our toys. Enter Masters of the Universe Classics or simply MOTUC by Mattel. I have been burning my moolah with these fine looking figures for 2 years now. What I really love about this line is the articulation and that made it easier for me to recreate some scenes from the original TV series. :)

 "Your madness ends today, Skeletor!"

I made the diorama using styro, old dailies, barbeque sticks and acrylic paint. Added the lens flare and dust effects using Photoshop.

Shrek and Donkey. Mcdonald's Happy Meal

It's Friday already --- more reason to be happy. Time for Mcdonald's Happy Meal toy shots featuring Shrek and the lovable (at times annoying) Donkey. :)

Be happy, everyone. It's Friday! :)

Farewell...

Ending 2013's Valentine special with DC in love -- or maybe not.

Batman and Wonder Woman

Last year, DC surprised everyone when they finally made Superman and Wonder Woman a couple. Probably the most powerful couple. Ha!

So....Farewell, Bruce.

Green Lantern and Star Sapphire

Carol's love for Hal made her a member of the Star Sapphire. Love, being on the extreme side of the color spectrum borders obsession. Despite the love-hate relationship, at the end of the day, Hal's love for Carol will always prevail.

"Walk away, Hal..."

Fin.

Avatar. Jake and Neytiri

Amidst the special effects and political undertone of Cameron's smash hit AVATAR, it is a romantic movie to its core. Of finding love, of making sacrifices, love triangle and conquering not just of lands but of hearts.

Jake and Neytiri in "The Tree of Souls"

Mattel did a really job with these figures. Fully articulated and stayed true to the film.

For this project, I used straws then highlighted it using dodge tool in Photoshop. Also took some plastic aquarium plants and placed it at the base of the diorama. Lights were placed on top, front and side of Neytiri to really make it look like that the tree is illuminating. :)

Tangled. Rapunzel and Flynn Rider.

Tangled is one my niece's favorite films. When I saw the movie, I was totally mesmerized especially the lantern part. So, when I saw my niece's Tangled toy by Mattel, I replicated my favorite part of the film -- the lantern scene.

Rapunzel and Flynn Rider in "Now I See The Light"

I used an LCD screen as a background. I used dodge tool to highlight some of the lanterns. I duplicated the layer, transformed it (inverse) before adding some ripples effect all in Photoshop. :)

Nightmare Before Christmas. Jack and Sally.

Continuing my Valentine's Day special with famous couples this time from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas featuring Jack Skellington and Sally. I find Sally's character very depressing -- well at least at the early part of the film. Of chasing the one you love and unsure if the love will be reciprocated. But, when they confessed their love for each other, the scene became an instant classic.

Jack and Sally

This image won 2nd place in the 10th ToyCon ToyClicks contest held in Megatrade Hall, SM Megamall, Manila in 2011.

I used a lampshade for the moon. The base is just made of old dailies, wire and stryroam for the gate. Made the picture interesting by capturing it in black and white. The image below is the base I used for this shot:

Star Wars. Princess Leia and Han Solo.

My next famous couple is from the Star Wars saga -- Han Solo and Princess Leia. I made the diorama last year featuring Jabba the Hutt's throne then I mixed the toys from Hasbro and Kenner.

In the movie Return of the Jedi, Princess Leia disguised herself as a bounty hunter named Boushh to sneak into Jabba the Hutt's palace.

She presented Chewbacca as a prisoner to get Jabba's buy-in allowing her to gain access to the palace as well as Jabba's trust. "She's got a thermal detonator!"

The ultimate plan is to free Han Solo from the carbonite box. "What have they done to you...."

Little did she know that her plans will soon be spoiled..."hang in there, Han."

Find out soon. :)
